The New York Times recently featured an article titled “When Everyday Noise Is Unbearable” on hyperacusis. The article highlights the challenges faced by a musician, George Rue, who acquired hyperacusis at a young age. George continues to face many challenges in his life due to ear pain caused by everyday noises. Our Scientific Advisor, Professor Rich Salvi, is quoted in the article saying “This is clearly an emerging field. Further work is required to understand the symptoms, etiology and underlying neural mechanisms.” Bryan Pollard, President of Hyperacusis Research, is also quoted in the article.
